Studying with Cornell Notes, using Zumtum

The traditional way

Cornell notes are a long-standing tradition in pen-and-paper notetaking. Cornell notes trick you into repeatedly processing the same material over a period of days, helping you to memorize and understand it.

These are the five steps:

  • on a blank sheet, draw a vertical divider.

  • only write notes to the right of this line

  • at a later time, create questions on the left, that answer your notes on the right

  • at an even later time, cover up the right side and see if you can mentally recall the notes on the right that are the answers to your questions on the left

  • the last step, is to write a short piece on the bottom of the sheet that answers the questions on the left in your own words

The Zumtum way

Zumtum helps you do this five step process using your tablet, phone, or laptop.
